A Personal Narrative Of Indian Massacres 1862 Lavina Day Eastlick 9781258110727 Books Reviews
A true story of the 1860's.Indian uprisings. As mentioned by another reviewer it has to be read understanding the perspective of the author. But then most books do!
The book is really special. The author was a rural frontier women who witnessed a very important part of Minnesota history the 1862 Indian war. She also saw three of her children and her husband killed right in front of her. One of her children a 5 year old boy was clubbed to death by an old female Indian. The author was also hurt very badly but managed to survive. She demonstrated a hatred for the Indians but who can blame her. It is a little hard to read because the author is not a scholar. But what she wrote is real. I attended a lecture about this book and the lecturer said that she like some other authors had a story to tell and she told it. Even though she was incurred to write more she never did. Another author like this was Margaret Mitchell who wrote Gone With the Wind. She wrote one book to tell a story and that was that.
